Ceylon Electricity Board issues solar RFP

Sri Lanka’s Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), has issued a Request for Proposals (RfP) for the construction of  a 10-MW solar project in Batticaloa district.

The 10-MW Vavunathivu Solar PV Power Project will have to be developed on Build Own & Operate (BOO) basis and will deliver power to CEB under a 20-year PPA. It will be connected to a grid substation near Vavunathivu, a town in Batticaloa District.

The scope of work includes, procurement of land, clearance certificates, government approvals, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the project. The successful bidder will also be responsible for interconnection of the solar project to the gantry.

The CEB has fixed LKR18.37 (US$0.122)/kWh as the upper tariff ceiling for this tender.

The deadline for interested bidders is on or before August 15, 2017.

In April, CEB  issued a tender for the construction of 60 PV power plants with a capacity of 1 MW each. The projects, to be developed under phase II of the solar program PV ‘Soorya Bala Sangramaya’ had a price ceiling of LKR 18.37 (US$0.121).
