El Salvador seeks developer for 170 MW renewable capacity

Distribuidora de Electricidad DelSur, S.A., has launched a tender process for the supply of 170 MW of wind and solar power in El Salvador.

More concretely the tender process involves plans for a 100 MW block for solar PV and 70 MW for wind. The energy generated by the new facilities will be sold under 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before October 19 2016. The opening of financial bid is scheduled on December 28.

We have recently reported that Proparco, and ICC (Inter-American Investment Corporation), had signed an agreement for the construction and operation of a photovoltaic power plant in El Salvador. This project combines the expertise of France’s Neoen , El Salvador’s Almaval and Spain’s manufacturer TSK via a joint venture.
