Brazil's Centrais Eletricas de Carazinho (Eletrocar) has announced that it will hold a public auction to sell two small hydropower projects, with a combined capacity of 3.9 MW.
The projects are the Mata Cobra and Coloroda hydropower plants. They are located in the cities of Almirante Tamandare do Sul and Tapera, respectively, Rio Grande do Sul state.
According to Eletrocar, the Mata Cobra plant has a total capacity of 2.8 MW and it will have a minimum selling price of BRL16.5 million (US$4.94 million) and the 1.1 MW Colorado plant's minimum price will be BRL2.85 million.
The auction is scheduled to be celebrated on December, 20.
We recently reported that also in Brazil, Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica (Aneel), the country's power regulator, announced it has approved six hydropower plants with a total capacity of 51.77MW.
