The European Union is mulling signing a €18 million (US$ 21 million) financing agreement to support renewable energy in Cuba. Further details on the deal have not been provided.
The EU ambassador in Cuba, Alberto Navarro, commented that the agreement to be approved by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, is part of the Agreement on Political Dialogue and Bilateral Cooperation, which entered into validity earlier this month.
Furthermore, an additional agreement is planned to be signed next year. This agreement will be focused on the support of sustainable agriculture, according to Alberto Navarro.
Overall, the programmes that are managed in the bilateral framework between Cuba and the EU should reach €50 million by 2020.
