The Mexican state-owned electric company, CFE, has awarded Gaseoducto Aguaparieta, a subsidiary of Ienova, the Hermosillo Gas Pipeline Branch in the state of Sonora, Mexico.
As we reported in late April, seven companies, including Gasoducto Aguaparieta showed interest in the Hermosillo branch project. The other companies involved in the project were US Sempra Energy, Cointer México, Fermaca, Arendal, Grupo Desarrollo Infraestructura, GPA Energy and Carbures Pypsa.
The 16-inch-diametre line, which is expected to be constructed within 11 months, will have a capacity of 100 million standard cubic feet per day. The total project investment is estimated at US$48 million and the concession agreement will have a period of 22 years.
The project is part of the US$10,000 million Mexican strategy focused on reinforcing the natural gas delivery and modernizing the power plants.
