Indian power producer approves investments in 510 MW projects

NTPC, a public sector company wholly owned by Government of India, has approved investments in two solar power complexes.

The two photovoltaic solar projects are located in the in the state of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. They are the following:

  • 250-MW Mandsaur solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The project invovles the development of five 50 MW solar facilities. The total project investment is estimate at Rs15 billion (US$225.4 million).
  • 260-MW Bhadla solar PV project in Rajasthan. The project involves the development of four 65 MW solar facilities, The total project investment is estimated at Rs16 billion (US$240.4 million).

The projects are expected to be operational by March 2017.

NTPC Limited (previously known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited) is an Indian central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities.
