Karnataka utility seeks developers for 200 MW solar projects

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) has launched a tender process for the development and construction of 200 MW of solar parks in the southwestern Indian.

Technical and financial proposals are due January 3, 2018. Technical bids will be opened on January 5.

The government it is seeking to install four photovoltaic facilities with a capacity of 50 MW each and related transmission networks. The open tender calls for the design, engineering, procurement, construction, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the power plants. Once completed, developers will also have to operate and maintain the facilities for 10 years.

The photovoltaic arrays will be situated within the Pavagada solar complex in the Tumakuru district and will generate electricity for local electricity supply companies for a period of 25 years.

The Pavagada project was proposed in 2015 by a joint venture between KREDL and the Solar Energy Corp of India (SECI), named Karnataka Solar Power Development Corp Ltd (KSPDCL). The scheme of the project calls for the installation of 2,700 MW of photovoltaic capacity in portions by the end of 2018.
