According to UAE daily newspaper The National, Palestine will launch next week solar power tenders targeting 110 MW of capacity.
Palestine is turning to renewables to minimize energy imports and save around US$90 million as it implements a new renewable energy law.
The tenders will involve 11 solar projects of 10 MW each in 11 governorates. Omar Kittaneh, Palestine’s minister of energy and natural resources, said it at a Clean Energy Business Council event in Dubai last week.
The project will be connected to the grid over the coming four years.
A further 35 MW of solar capacity will be installed under a net metering system, 25 MW reserved for businesses and the remaining 10 MW for the residential and private sectors.
