BayWa r.e. buys South Dakota wind project from B&H Wind

Munich-basedBayWa r.e. has bought a 80 MW wind project in South Dakota (USA) from B&H Wind.

Morrison & Foerster advised BayWa during the acquisition. The terms of the deal has not been not disclosed.

Matthias Taft, CEO of BayWa r.e. commented:

The U.S. is one of the core markets for BayWa r.e.'s renewable energy business. We are pleased to announce the construction of the fifth project since BayWa r.e.’s first step into the U.S. wind business three years ago.

In addition BayWa r.e. has secured the provision of turbines for the new win project. General Electric is providing 43 1.85-MW turbines for the wind farm. General Electric will also provide operations and maintenance support through a 5 years service agreement.

Florian Zerhusen, president of wholly owned subsidiary BayWa r.e. Wind LLC. stated:

We look forward to be working with the various stakeholders of the project and establishing a relationship with GE.

Construction works began last year and it is expected that the wind farm will be completed in 2015. The power produced bu the wind project will be sold to NorthWestern Corp.
