The Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil has delayed the deadline of the A-5 energy auction from March 31 to April 29.
The Ministry has taken this decision due to the fact that the deadline of a tender process for the transmission line to transport the energy to be negotiated at the A-5 auction is April 13.
The A-5 auction will comprise both renewable energy, including wind, biomass, and hydropower, and fossil fuel power, including gas and coal. The energy supply negotiated at the tender is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2021, and the contracts will be based on volumes of power and availability.
Brazilian wind players have asked the government to cap the price for wind at R$240/MWh (US$63.5/MWh).
