Connecticut’s town seeks hydropower developers for DBFO project

The town of Canton in Connecticut, USA, has launched a request for proposal (RfP) for the development of the hydroelectric potential of the Upper Collinsville Dam.

The Upper Collinsville Dam is one of two existing dams located on the Farmington River, which are referred to as the Upper and Lower Collinsville dams.

The town of Canton will select a team to design, build, finance (DBFO) and operate the project during the concession period.

The site’s potential for hydroelectric development is approximately 700 Kw - 950 Kw based upon information from turbine vendors and a 2011 pre-feasibility re-powering assessment of the site conducted by GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. It showed no fatal flaws and indicated that the project had the potential to produce favorable economic performance.

A pre-proposal conference and a site visit inspection will take place on 2 June. Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 7 July 2015.
