EDC receives approvals for 1.5 GW wind projects in the Philippines

Energy Development Corp. (EDC) has plans to develop six wind power projects in Philippines totaling 1.5 gigawatts (GW).

The company has recently received the approval from the Philippines' Energy Department to carry out grid impact studies on the six potential wind power projects in Luzon and the Visayas. The projects are the following:

  • 153-MW Matnog 1 and 206-MW Matnog 2 wind projects in Matnog, Sorsogon;
  • 213-MW Iloilo 1 in Batad and San Dionisio and
  • 500-MW Iloilo 2 in Concepcion, Iloilo.
  • expansion of the 183-MW Burgos wind project in Burgos, Ilocos Norte
  • 262-MW Negros wind project in Manapla and Cadiz.
