The French wind industry group (FEE) has recently announced that France will launch a call for tenders for floating offshore wind power projects this month.
A total of three projects in the 15-60 MW range will count with a €150 million (US$164.8 million) investment subsidy. The total generating capacity will be of up to 120 MW.
According to FEE President Frederic Lanoe, a feed-in tariff of at least €200 (US$220) per MW will be put in place for the fixed-foundation offshore wind projects.
The FEE is targeting 6 GW of floating offshore wind power and a target of 15 GW of offshore wind powerf for France by 2020. With 3 GW currently awarded, the country is still behind Germany (15 GW by 2030) and the UK.
The FEE stated that the selection of the sites should be concluded in autumn.
