Japan’s NEDO to support offshore wind farms

Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) has announced plans to support the development of two offshore wind farms in Japan.

NEDO will subsidise parts of the cost associated with the development of the two following offshore wind projects:

  • 170 MW offshore wind farm close to Port of Noshiro in Akita Prefecture. The project is being developed by Marubeni Corporation and Obayashi Corporation.
  • 100-MW offshore wind farm in Ishikari Bay in Hokkaido Prefecture. The project is being developed by Green Power Investment.

According to NEDO, it will support the projects through the fiscal year 2017, which ends on 31 March.

We have recently reported that Japan’s Eurus Energy Holdings Corp had started commercial operations at its wind farm in the prefecture of Akita.
