Marubeni and Enel sign MOU for Joint Development of IPP Projects in Asia

Marubeni Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with multinational power company Enel SpA, an integrated player in the world’s power and gas market, to cooperate in evaluating power generation project opportunities in Asia.

This MOU is aimed at continuing discussion on joint efforts toward potential business opportunities in fast-growing power sectors in Asia and the Pacific region, especially in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia.

According to Marubeni, the firm aims to work together with Enel to achieve the development of power projects and contribute to the further development of the region through a stable power supply.

Marubeni owns over 10 GW in total power generation capacity in 22 countries including Japan, of which power assets in Asia make up 40% of this total power capacity and gas-fired power plants account for more than 60%.
