The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (MEA) has announced a bill to enable the launching of the first offshore wind tender process in the Netherlands.
The new bill is expected to enter into force before April 1, 2016. It will enable the launching of the tender process for the Borssele I and II offshore wind projects with a capacity of 350 MW each. The deadline of the tender is established on 31 March 2016.
In May 2015 we reported that MEA sent a letter to the House of Parliament announcing details about the offshore wind energy tender. The letter can be found here (in Dutch). Previously in March 2015 Members of the Dutch House of Representatives gave the green light to the Borssele I and II offshore wind farms proposed to be built 18 to 22 kilometers off North Holland, South Holland and (Borssele) Zeeland.
Later, in November 2015, we reported that RWE Innogy, EDP Renewables and Macquarie Capital formed a consortium to participate in the upcoming offshore wind tender processes in the Country.
