The Ontario Power Authority OPA has issued a tender process by launching a request for proposals (RFP) to hire financial advisors for its "Large Renewable Competitive Procurements".
The services involves the provision of financial advice during the Large Renewable Procurement (LRP) process.
The OPA has been procuring renewable energy generation capacity for the province since 2005 through both competitive and standard offer mechanisms. Most recently this has been accomplished through the standard offer Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) program. On June 12, 2013, the Minister of Energy directed the OPA to end procurement of large projects (generally > 500 kW) under the FIT program and to begin engaging on and developing a new competitive process for the procurement of large renewable energy projects.
The OPA aims to procure, in each of 2014 and 2015, up to 300 MW of wind, 140 MW of solar, 50 MW of bioenergy and 50 MW (45 MW in 2015) of hydroelectric capacity.
Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 24 July 2014.
