Philippines approves 50 MW solar project

The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) has given the green light to Roxas & Company (RCI) to develop a 50-MW solar project in the Nasugbu municipality of Batangas.

Roxas & Company (RCI), through its subsidiary Roxas Green Energy, aims complete the project before 15 March 2016 to qualify for the feed-in tariff (FiT) rate of PHP-8.69 (USD 0.186/EUR 0.169) per kWh

The Philippines is fast catching up with some of its ASEAN neighbors like Thailand in recognizing the benefits of powering the country with clean and reliable renewable energy. With over 110 MWp of solar installations now connected to the grid and another 2.5 GW of solar projects planned, the adoption of solar energy in the country has gone mainstream.
