Proinversión launches tender for substation concession

Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversion has launched a tender process to develop the first stage of the Carapongo substation and associated connections project.

The project comprises the concession to design, finance, build, operate, and maintain the first stage of the new Carapongo substation which located in the eastern part of metropolitan Lima, Peru.

The total project investment is estimated at US$31.3 million.

The new substation will consolidate the power supply provided to the city of Lima, which comes from a gas power plant located in Chilca and from an hydropower facility in the basin of the Rimac river (Huinco and Callahuanca). The power will be transmitted through existing transmission lines that link three substations in Chavarria (220 kV), Santa Rosa (220 kV) and Carabayllo (500 kV).

During this summer Proinversion has awarded two transmission projects. In early August ISA was selected as the preferred bidder for the Friaspata-Mollepata transmission project and in early June Proinversion awarded to a consortium led by Isolux the Moyobamba-Iquitos power transmission concession.
