Delhi-based SBG Cleantech, the US$-20-billion renewables joint venture (JV) controlled by Japanese telecom giant SoftBank Corporation, has won the tender process to build a 350 MW photovoltaic plant in India's Andhra Pradesh state under National Thermal Power Corp’s (NTPC) December competitive solar energy auction.
India's Bharti Enterprises Ltd and Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Co Ltd hold minority stakes in SBG Cleantech.
SBG Cleantech offered a tariff of INR 4.63 (USD 0.069) per kWh beating up in the tender companies such as Yarrow Infrastructure Ltd., Azure Power India, ReNew Solar Power and others.
SunEdison Inc had won 500 MW in a November solar tender by offering exactly the same tariff price.
