SgurrEnergy appoints Senior Advisor

SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, has appointed David Blunt as Senior Advisor to the business at their headquarters office in Glasgow, Scotland.

David has been appointed, with immediate effect, in a newly created position and will support the development of new markets for the growing business.

David joins SgurrEnergy after three years with the global wind Energy Company, Gamesa, most recently as Managing Director UK, and more than thirty years in the UK’s Diplomatic Service.

His extensive international experience includes roles as British Ambassador to Kosovo (2006-8) and subsequently to Croatia (2008-11), as well as the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s Sustainable Development Champion for Europe. David grew up in South and South-East Asia, has worked in 18 countries on four continents and speaks a number of European languages.

David Blunt commented:

"SgurrEnergy is one of the UK’s big success stories in the renewable energy sector. I am delighted to be working alongside this dynamic and highly professional team in an economic sector which not only mitigates the dramatic threats from climate change but also brings real benefits to vulnerable communities, such as those struggling with inadequate energy supplies in many parts of the world. I greatly look forward to helping to drive forward SgurrEnergy’s continued growth and success."

SgurrEnergy’s Steve McDonald, joint founder and Implementation Director, said:

"We are delighted to have David on board with us at SgurrEnergy. The experience, expertise and international contacts he brings with him, will not only allow us to connect with new clients, in new markets, but help to further improve our relationships with existing ones. It is truly an exciting time at SgurrEnergy and we look forward to David being a part of our continued growth and success."
