Spain's Solarpack will build a 55 MW solar PV plant in Chile after winning a tender process issued by energy distribution companies.
Solarpack bid $64.84 per megawatt to win the process. The project, called La Constitución solar park, will be developed by Solarpack's subsidiary Amunche Solar Spa. It will be connected to the Chilean Central Interconnection System (SIC).
Solarpack already executed several PV plants in Chile such as: the 10.5 MW Pozo Almonte Solar 1 and the 25 MW Pozo Almonte Solar 2-3. The latter provides energy to mining company Doña Inés de Collahuasi.
During this last year, more than 500 MW of solar capacity has been put into operation.
