Thailand gives the green light to two waste-to-energy projects

The Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy committee of Thailand has approved two waste-to-energy PPP projects, which will have total combined investment of THB6.6 billion (US$195.5 million).

The tender processes for the projects are expected to be launched this year. The two projects are the following:

According to the Director of the State Enterprise Policy Office Kulert Sombatsiri , the two projects above were the pilot projects approved as examples for future PPP projects.

The committee currently has under study a pipeline composed by a total of 65 potential PPP projects, all of them in line with the government's development strategies. It is expected that the PPP projects developed in 2016 will involve the construction of transport infrastructure.
