Toyo Thai to build 1.3 GW coal-fired power plant in Myanmar

Toyo-Thai Corporation Public Company Limited (TTCL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Hydropower Planning, Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar for a critical power project in the country.

The contract will cover the development, operation, and transfer of a 1,280 MW Ultra Super Critical (USC) coal-fired thermal power plant project.

The 2x640 MW project, located in Ye Township (Mon State), is worth US$2.8 billion and will be built under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) investment scheme with 30-year concession contract.

The construction of the power plant is expected to last 6 years.

The project will need 4 million tons of imported coal per year.
