Turkey launched tender processes to privatize Alia?a and Bursa gas plants

The Turkish government has launched tender processes for the privatization of a pair of combined cycle and gas turbine power plants.

Specifically, the privatization process involves the following two plants:

  • 1.4 GW Bursa natural gas plant in northwestern Turkey. Interested parties must submit their bids on or before 1 October 2015. The government has established a bid security price of US$10 million.
  • 1.5 GW ?zmir combined cycle and gas turbine power plant in Aliaga. Interested parties must submit their bids on or before 15 October 2015. The government has established a bid security price of US$15 million.

According to statements, legal persons and consortia are able to bid for the assets. Real persons and private investment funds may offer bids as long as they are members of a consortium, which includes at least one legal person.

The Turkish Electricity Generation Corporation has plans to privatize 29 hydroelectric and gas-turbine power plants. The privatizations are expected to be completed by 2020.
